Gym planning: why it’s important and how we can help

Gym planning: why it’s important and how we can help

Let’s be honest. One of the most important parts of setting up your own gym is the planning and consideration that goes into the look and feel of your space. The key decisions you make at this stage will define whether your space will work practically and effectively.

With any gym design, it’s crucial that you make the most of the space you’ve got to work with. You don’t need us to tell you that this will maximise revenue for your business. Your walls, doors, windows, pillars, electrical needs, and ceilings are all vital things to factor in before you buy a single thing for your gym interior.

At Inspace we like to work with you during this process to split the journey of designing your gym installation into smaller stages to make the task a little more manageable and stress-free. Read on if you want to know more about the importance of a gym layout, aesthetics, and how we can help you achieve your perfect gym space.

Stage 1: 3D & 2D design

Sometimes it’s hard to visualise what the finished space will look like. On top of that, you have to think about equipment sizes relative to the room you have. All of which is very time consuming and rather boring. Fortunately, we recognised this problem and can supply you with a range of high-resolution designs to bring your space to life. With 2D gym designs and 3D walk-throughs, you can realistically see the potential of your space. These designs become the blueprint of any project to ensure you have a clear idea of what the end product will look like.

Stage 2: Project management

It’s no surprise that it can take a lot of work from lots of different parties to deliver a state-of-the-art gym or fitness space. From builders and decorators to flooring, lighting and AV, there's a lot that goes into making it all come together with you at the centre of it trying desperately to spin all the plates. This can quickly become overwhelming, which is why we offer a comprehensive gym project management service that means you don't have to worry about anything. We'll choose the right people for the job and manage the whole process from start to finish.

Stage 3: Gym interior design and gym decoration

The aesthetics of a facility can have a huge impact on your space and influence the mood of your members. Never underestimate the power of a colour scheme, and how it connects to the purpose of your gym. A red and black colour scheme could convey determination and achievement. Blood, sweat, tears and all that jazz. Perfect if your gym is centred around strength and bodybuilding. But what if your gym revolves more around cardio? Could you have hints of blue and green coming through to represent health and wellbeing?

And let’s not forget about the all-important lighting. A key factor that can make or break your space, and something that can be easily overlooked. Lighting is a huge contributor to whether someone feels comfortable in your space. They may feel self-conscious if the lights are too bright or frustrated if they can’t see what they’re doing properly because the lights are too dark. If you don’t nail the lighting of your space, you can say goodbye to customers very quickly. Our years of combined experience means we know what modern gyms should look, sound, and feel like which is why we take care of all the interior design decisions that will influence the behaviour of your end-users.

Stage 4: Kit selection and supply

Selecting the right fitness equipment and machines for your space is pretty important right? Now you know what can fit, where it will go, and what it’ll look like, you can start to pick the specific equipment you want. From cardio to strength, free weights to functional and everything in between, Inspace has a wide range of fitness equipment to suit your budget, the needs of your end-users and your space.
